Hey guys,
sad news, I won't be working on Battouga for the time being. It might be a few years until I start working on it again. As you know I tried to work on it while taking my youth education, and that didn't turn out great. I wasn't really able to work on Ginga while going to school. I've been thinking that I'd like to get back to working on Ginga, but I know it's a bad idea. I am starting this education at another city in January. I'm going to be learning how to do websites and stuff like that. HTML, CSS and Javascript. This is an education that'll take roughly one year and nine months and then there's of course the focus on getting a job or possibly educationg myself further to specialize myself in order to make me stand out from the crowd. I might be able to work on it in the future when things settle down, but the possibility is low.
That's why I am going to share my Ginga Nagareboshi Gin DVDs so someone can work on it. It would be nice to see a competent encoder make some nice encodes. For now I am just making this available. I'll share the scripts I have if someone is interested in picking up the mantle.
Download is here.

What's up?
For those who are still interested in seeing Battouga eps...
I'm having my exams soon, and will be over them at around the 22th June. Needless to say, I'll have plenty of time to work on Battouga afterwards. I don't know what I'll be doing next year (education, job) so my time is uncertain when summer is over. I have this thing I need to know how to deal with, won't bore you guys with it.
I'm still working on ep1v2, but I won't be releasing ep after ep. I think I'm going to do a full batch when I am done with the last ep. This may sound ambitious when I've only released two eps so far, but I think that's the more sane approach since I won't be able to finish this within a few months, thus learning better methods, thus having to do v2, v3 or even v4s. Some people might forget that I am doing this show, but that'll just make it that more awesome when I show up with a batch. I'll be uploading this at BakaBT so keep an eye out on that tracker.
I've also gotten some advice as to how I can do scripts faster. A few people have volunteered/said yes to quality checking, but a regular buddy would be best.
Update: 18-06-2011
Alrighty, I have one exam left till I graduate, it's on Wednessday so I need to begin studying for it very soon. A quick update to let you guys know about some thoughts and changes.
First of all, I found out that another group was doing the remaining eps asd-fansubs didn't get to do before disbanding/dying. Though they're not doing it the way I want Ginga to be done so I won't quit. One thing they will have is better translation and possibly better editing than me since they have several people participating, plus, they have someone to translate and other people to edit. Though they have several issues such as ghosting in their video, releasing in .wmv and using the Scandinavian boxset which is horribly released. I've already stated why the boxset sucks elsewhere. Not to mention encoding to 29, 97 fps when it's supposed to be encoded to 23, 98 fps. This will undoubtedly be seen a bashing their release when I am merely stating facts. I recommend their release if you guys put translation and editing above all else: http://silverfangfanhouse.proboards.com/index.cgi
I do plan to work hard on the subs for my own version, but it's probably never going to be as good as a their version. I strongly disagree with several of their methods as you can tell though I want you guys to know of their existence in case you prefer their version more.
Second of all, an awesome person named yumis has volunteered to translate the booklet. This is of course great news. Whether or not I'll be able to release this with the batch or before is unknown at this point. In what form it'll be released in is also unknown. The scans still look horrible so unless we can find someone to clean them, it'll most likely be released in a .txt document. The stuff is really good so fans will definitely have something to look forward to.
I hope to resume my work soon. I don't want to be doing this for several years. I might release a ten episode batch when I feel I've reached a point where I won't have to release eps again because I've found better methods. I haven't had a chance to use "that-faster-way-to-edit-scripts" yet so I guess I'll be due for another update soon.

Ginga Nagareboshi Gin - Booklet
So, some of you have probably seen it on TokyoTosho, and NyaaTorrents. I was working a paper when I released so couldn't be bothered to make a release post.
And yes, I'll pay if I need to for someone to translate it. I thought I'd at least get one who was interested. Maybe I need to actively search for someone.
Anyway, scanned it poorly since my scanner skills suck so they could be better, but wouldn't know how to make them better, they sure don't look like the ones I see so often by competent scanners. Then again, can't be good at everything, aye?

Episode 21 - Gin! Towards new journeys! (BETA)
Fuck Gurren Lagann, One Piece, Samurai X and Naruto. This is the most bad-ass battle that Japan has ever managed to produce.
So why episode 21? Because I can. I've been trying to find time to work on more eps, guess it'd help if I stopped watching anime and playing games for a month or two. Oh well.
Episode 21 is just a tad more interesting to work on than episode 2.
For people who've seen Ginga before; enjoy this episode in quality seen in no other Ginga release of episode 21.
For people who haven't seen Ginga, and who plan to watch it from episode 1; ignore this post.
For people who don't really care; watch this episode. What have you got to lose?
Also, this episode is being released pre-maturely. Meaning I haven't done fine timing yet, so you'll need to keep your mind sharp to catch those lines that doesn't appear for more than 500 milliseconds.
I have just been messing with it, but it didn't turn out like I wanted it to, and I just wanted to release something since it's been quite a while...that's seriously an understatement.
Oh, and don't worry, I won't go backwards, and release episode 20 next. Episode 2 will be next in..hopefully...2011?

What now?
So, I didn't quite get the attention I was looking for on my BETA release. But I am going to continue nonetheless. I've worked out some stuff since I released the BETA release:
- I'll be doing CRF19. It has quite good quality and the file sizes aren't huge = 500-600mb. The final batch will be around 9-11GB. Don't complain about the file sizes.
- I'll be encoding in anamorphic. I get the expression that it's the correct method for encoding this show. Anyway, resolution~wise.
- I'll still be releasing episodes when they're done, but labelling them BETA since they aren't the final version. I hope to attract some interested souls. No one has contacted me yet with reasonable experience.
I thought about doing ordered chapters, and I hope to get the hang of it eventually. Don't expect the next ones to be like that though for now.
For now I am trying to get all the episodes encoded so that's over. I feel I'll be able to manage it much easier if I get that done.
At the moment I am extremely busy with school and other stuff so episode 2 might be longer away. And still have stuff at BakaBT I need to finish before I can focus completely on this. Also, to make things worse. I learned how to time properly so I'll need to re-time episode 1. Yay.
Oh, and it looks like I'll be putting karaoke in after all, for a moment I thought I'd have to remove it. Making karaoke is pretty fun stuff.^^
Takeshi out.

Episode 01 - The Small Hero! The Birth of Gin! (BETA)
OH, NO, I KNOW YOU DIDN'T JUST TRY AND TAKE ONE OF MA' KIDS!
So here we go.
This episode is supposed to give people an idea of how I want to do Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, and also to get the word out that I am indeed doing it. Let's face it, I can't do this project all by myself as too much work is needed.
I've been trying to release this anime ever since I got my hands on the Scandinavian boxset. The source was progressive so no complicated de-interlacing needed there, but the rest was pretty fucked up. Like weird shit appearing after the opening, and one episode suddenly needing de-interlacing after all. Plus, the ending magically disappears in the later eps.
Then I got my hands on the reprint from 2008 which is so much better. Also, it contains previews so I'll need to find someone to translate those 15 seconds for me in each episode.
Video: 656x480 (4:3), 23,976 fps, H264, 2600 kBit/s (CRF19)
Audio: 2.0, AC3, 384 kBit/s
Subtitles: English ASS (read "Details" to find out more about them)
Karaoke: Simple, just softsubs. Translation is from Gendou. Not sure how accurate they are though.
Expect some iffiness, this is labelled (BETA) for a reason, but I still think most of you will enjoy it.
Feel free to point out mistakes I may not have caught yet. Also, feel free to ask any questions you have concerning this project though please make sure you've read the FAQ first.
